Toldot  "Generations" Genesis 25:19-28:9
Published Mon Dec 5 2011
The generations not only of the Abrahamic covenant but also the genealogy of the nations and mankind, from
Adam to Noah, and from Noah to Abraham and now Avraham's second born son Isaac and the house of Israel,
brings us to this Torah portion. However with this birth came also another nation, a nation that was to be constantly
at war with Israel. Toldot contains the most incredible poetic depictions of how Rome came into being, and how
the desire to go ones own way separated the true intentions for the plan of creation. We read how each of the
matriarchs of Israel were barren...Sarah, Rebecca and Rachel and it was through the divine hand that each
became pregnant. In all things Israel, a more heavenly blessing and call to the Almighty was required.

Esav chooses to be Evil: Why the Torah is timeless teaching model for mankind is evident with the depiction of the
birth of Esav and Jacob. Such is how the prophets became inspired, after preparation and dedication to HaShem.
Rivkah conceived twins and was troubled with the carriage, she sought HaShem on the matter and was given a
prophetic revelation concerning her children. Rivkah is given guidance from HaShem and only her. HaShem would
not deliberately bring brothers into the world to hate and kill each other. Nothing evil comes from above, it is mans
walk that makes evil and wickedness. HaShem will however mete out punishment for transgression. To think
rationally would be "in his image" (Genesis 1:27) and so logic would dictate that what HaShem wanted was each
brother to serve the Torah with contrasting skills and attributes and live under one roof so to unison of

  • 25:23 The Lord answered her, "Two nations are in your womb; two kingdoms will issue from your body; one
kingdom will be stronger than the other kingdom, and the older will serve the younger

We would live under the commandments first and foremost. Written teachings were given to mankind on how to
live after the great flood, and the Torah was given at Sinai (Ex 20) which was the guiding light for mankind to live by.
Clearly it is man who chooses to be evil and not HaShem wanting or commanding man to be evil

  • Gen 9:6 Whoever sheds the blood of man before witnesses, his blood will be shed by the sentence of the
judges; for in the image of God he made man

The Birthright: This part of the Torah used also by the evil one to claim that Biblical Israel cheated for the blessing
of Torah and the covenant...what does the Torah say about that. When the twins were born Rivkah was told that the
older would serve the younger, Esav came forth with Jacob holding his ankle and so whatever the case HaShem
through Jacob and his descendants would rule over either a good Esav or Rome.. Rome however for turning evil
would be hindered throughout by HaShem's people in the world

  • Gen 25:25 The first one emerged red, like a hairy mantle all over; so they named him Esav 26 Then his
brother emerged, holding onto the heel of Esav; so they named him Jacob. Isaac was sixty years old when
    they were born

Israel has been dominated and persecuted by Rome since always. HaShem is always the creator and his people
need to keep the Torah. Both were born to serve HaShem but Esav rebelled. Isaac favoured the hunter whilst the
mother favoured the Scholar of Torah. All are acceptable if in accordance with Torah. We were made to be
vegetarians originally (Gen 1:29-31). After the flood permission was given to eat meat in line with the Torah. All
skills that we are born with are from above to serve haShem and if use those against the truth and the people who
serve HaShem then HaShem will keep things in the right order. Jacob never took anything that was not his.
Women seem to be closer to HaShem and so the study of Torah is more appealing seeking the spiritual path of
the universe and intellect. Perhaps if Esav did not become a murderer Rivkah would have loved him also. The finer
qualities of the righteous and favoured by HaShem are the workers in quite service and dedication to HaShem

  • Gen 25:27: When the boys grew up, Esau was a skillful hunter, a man of the field, while Jacob was a quiet
man, dwelling in tents. 28 Isaac loved Esau because he ate of his game, but Rebekah loved Jacob.

Esav sells his birthright for stew: Esav rejected the truth, the color red is introduced into the Torah, Esav being
identified with it. Curiously this is the color of the masons and the occult. This particular episode in the Torah
seems to me to be the very essence of the creation when we are not afforded the blessings of G-d Almighty by
virtue of being born to a patriarchal family and physically circumcised. We will get the blessings by what we do in
life and have to show ourselves to other people so they see the blessings from above by virtue of our walk. Equally
there will be curses for those who rebel. Jacob may well have been serious about the birthright while others were
patronizing of him and never took it seriously
  • Gen 26:29 Once when Jacob was cooking stew, Esau came in from the field, and he was
exhausted. 30 And Esau said to Jacob, “Let me eat some of that red stew, for I am
exhausted!” (Therefore his name was called Edom). 31 Jacob said, “Sell me your birthright
now.” 32 Esau said, “I am about to die; of what use is a birthright to me?” 33 Jacob said,
“Swear to me now.” So he swore to him and sold his birthright to Jacob. 34 Then Jacob gave
Esau bread and lentil stew, and he ate and drank and rose and went his way. Thus Esau
    despised his birthright.

Nothing that was created or came from above is evil. It is man who makes evil and the cause of the
worlds problems. Esav further distanced himself from HaShem by taking wives from those who
were idolatrous

  • Gen 26:34 When Esav was forty years old, he took to wife Judith daughter of Beeri the Hittite,
and Basemath daughter of Elon the Hittite 35 and they were the source of bitterness to Isaac

Jacob secures the Blessing: Chapter 27 contains perhaps the most difficult and yet one of the
most poetic depictions concerning a deception, fabricated in order to secure the blessing from
Isaac. The evil Esav is sent away to hunt for a meal for Isaac and during his absence Jacobs
apparently absconds his blessing as older brother birthrights would dictate. Jacob, a Torah Scholar
was asked to go against his sense of truth on order to deceive his father which caused him
unease. I wonder if that fighting the evil one the Torah is suggesting that as Torah scholars we are
at liberty to use deception also to secure the covenant from the evil ways of the wicked. It is not
without difficulty and each party played a wrongful role in it and Rivkah bore the heartache of
eventually being separated from Jacob because Esav was to kill him (Gen 27:41) It seems Jacob
already had the birthright but Rivkah tells Jacob to cover himself with a kids skin to seem hairy like
Esav. Life was not easy for all after these events, and it is the evil one who causes actions by the
righteous like this. Remember that Eve gave Adam the fruit to eat but it was Adam who took it and all
were punished for there part in going against the Torah. Rebecca herself from an idolatrous family,
turned to HaShem. Understanding that Isaac was about to bless Esau, she stepped in on Jacobs
behalf to ensure HaShem's command came to pass. Rivkah, Jacobs mother prompts him to act
deceitfully saying that the curse is upon her. Rivkah already had a prophetic vision concerning her
birth of the boys and by accepting an curse for the impending deception was she saying that she
was also similarly inspired from above. Jacob by clutching Esav's ankle at birth was symbolically
showing Israel's role in stemming Rome from all out power and annihilation of the good people.
Instead of Esav and Jacob walking together before HaShem, they are now arch enemies...Rome
and Israel. Jacob now holding or preventing Rome from achieving all out might. The world today
gives many systems to work through for Rome as it makes a false case against countries and
individuals in order to make the excuse for war and destroy them. Israel has gone through the most
horrific of times with hardly any peace and much because of these biblical episodes.  Isaac
blessed Jacob and accepted the he was the heir apparent for the covenants, Jacob wanted the

It is clear that not all people are going to accept HaShem and his Torah. The hatred and sickness
that is in the world really stems from people rejecting a set of teachings or moral code to live by; in
other words the most serious of the transgressions listed in the Torah....idolatry

  • Gen 27:41 Now Esau hated Jacob because of the blessing with which his father had
    blessed him, and Esau said to himself, "the days of mourning for my father are approaching;
then I will kill my brother Jacob

So these two mighty nations have never reigned together, one has been dominant over the other.
Rome has brought much carnage upon Israel and the righteous throughout time. Israel however
still has Rome held back. It takes time for the wicked to generate their lies for war. The holocaust is
another testament to that. It is curious how during a war when innocent Torah Jews were being
incinerated and tortured by Hitler, that the British appoint a high level warmonger PM, Freemason
(satanist) and druid....Winston Churchill, as was Stalin and Roosevelt. The two brothers were
adversarial throughout their lives but in the end the truth will prevail.

The most barbaric, cruel and godless of all people are the Christian western nations (Rome) who
put innocents to the gas chambers. Esav sold his birthright because he was hungry and wanted
food straight away. People need to be humble to serve HaShem and any reward comes because of
Torah and service...Jacob did this and took nothing that was not his by devotion to HaShem.
Material lifestyles are the order in western cultures and have fallen completely. HaShem knows
what we will all do but other people do not know and will watch and see what is done or not....tests
are for others to witness an individual willingly offer themselves to HaShem through Torah...freewill
devotion. A deciding factor was the steps and actions taken when it came to a wife and to produce
the children for HaShem. Women are the greatest blessing to a man and we need an equal role
relationship in serving HaShem. Esaw still, from this passage sems to indicate he wanted to
please Ha-Shem by taking a another wife from Ishmael, Avraham's son. In the closing passages of
this Torah portion, the reinforcement not to cohabit interpersonally with Caanan, the enemies of Ha-
Shem, is given

  • 28:6 Now Esau saw that Isaac had blessed Jacob and sent him away to Paddan-aram to
take a wife from there, and that as he blessed him he directed him, “You must not take a
wife from the Canaanite women,” 7 and that Jacob had obeyed his father and his mother
and gone to Paddan-aram 9 So Esav went to Ishmael and took to wife, in addition to the
wives he had, Mahalath the daughter of Ishmael son of Avraham, sister of Nebaith
